Who We Are
The Cannabis Patients Group UK (CPGUK) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to advocating for access to treatment for people with unmet needs who are unable to access treatment through the NHS. Our purpose is to inform patients of the ways in which they may be able to access medical cannabis.
Unfortunately, medical cannabis is not routinely available on the National Health Service. Since medical cannabis was legalised in the UK in 2018, only a small number of patients have received medical cannabis prescriptions from the NHS. It is only possible to prescribe this medicine by specialists as a last resort, and funding must be obtained in order to cover NHS prescriptions.

Medical Cannabis in the UK
Medical cannabis was legalised in the UK in November 2018, making it possible for specialist doctors to prescribe cannabis-based products for medicinal use (CBPMs). However, access through the NHS remains extremely limited, and most patients who benefit from medical cannabis do so through private prescriptions.
