About Us

Despite the revisions to reschedule the medicine in 2018 to enable specialists to prescribe medicinal cannabis for a range of health conditions, the medicinal cannabis was scheduled to remain accessible from 2021.

There are still other challenges that patients experience, including misperceptions, stigma, and financial restraints, which hinder the spread of life-changing medications.

CPGUK strives to engage patients, medical professionals, and researchers to help those affected by barriers to medical cannabis overcome them, and in the process, push the integration of medical cannabis into mainstream healthcare.

In addition to supporting patients in their efforts to get CBMPs, CPGUK also provides tips and tools to help patients in their efforts. To enhance that, we partner with various other organisations and authority bodies to deliver more comprehensive treatment and support excellence in the private healthcare sector.

Clear Guidance

Clinicians seeking guidance on medical cannabis often face challenges finding clear, independent support. The existing advice from regulators and the medical community can be conflicting. In response, we established the Cannabis Patients Group to empower doctors to be well-informed and confident prescribers.

In the realm of new treatments, it is essential for clinicians and healthcare professionals to feel assured about dosing, potential interactions with other drugs, tolerability, and prescribing details. Specifically for medical cannabis, a comprehensive understanding of the endocannabinoid system, along with the therapeutic effects of cannabinoids like THC and CBD for various conditions, is crucial.

Support at Every Step

The Cannabis Patients Group takes an extra step in assisting clinicians—both those already prescribing and those aspiring to become prescribers. Through a peer-support network, clinicians can learn from one another and access online assistance seven days a week, in addition to participating in events and networking opportunities.

Members of the CPGUK actively contribute to ongoing conversations, provide guidance, and engage in debates within the medical cannabis community.
